David Wopperer of the Class of 1974, passed away suddenly at his home this past week on Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Dave is survived by his wife Amy (Pope, Class of 1975), a son Charles and a daughter, Emily.
Dave lived in Clarence and was the president of Thermal Foams, a foam insulation and panel manufacturer and distributor that was started by his grandfather and carried on by Dave's father, Charles. Dave was very active with the Clarence Football Boosters and was very dedicated to Amy and his children.
For those who had the privilege of knowing Dave, we all have a story or two that we can share but the two things that always seem to be common characteristics of Dave was his sense of humor and his lust for life. He worked hard and played hard and enjoyed being around his family and friends.
We will most certainly miss him. |
The following is a note from Dave's cousin, Frank Wopperer, to the employees at Thermal Foams:
My Cousin, Friend, Business Partner and Confidant of some 41 years Dave Wopperer passed away suddenly last evening of a heart attack.
We are all very saddened by this tragic and sudden event. Dave was 51 years old. Dave’s Father Chuck brought him to work when he was 10 years old. As long as Chuck let Dave drive the Fork Truck around he was happy to come to Thermal Foams. Back in those days you could do those things. Dave through out the years kept coming to Thermal Foams and eventually became President. Thermal Foams is what it is today because of Dave Wopperer. Dave will be sorely missed by me, his family and friends, his business partners and his loyal employees.
In honor of Dave’s Family and in his memory and dreams for Thermal Foams we will continue on to nurture, grow and develop Thermal Foams. Dave left behind his very capable, hand selected key people in Thermal Foams who will now step up and help fill a huge void left and some mighty big shoes to fill. |
